“Chicago Med”, “Blindspot” & “Heartbreaker” ordered to series at NBC!

One week before the upfronts, NBC has decided on the fate of three of its pilots. “Chicago Fire” spin-off “Chicago Med” is picked-up to series, as well as another medical fare “Heartbreaker” and Greg Berlanti’s high octane thriller “Blindspot”. A few others should follow, with “The Player” being the safest bet at the time.

So NBC is betting heavily on medical next year with Heartbreaker and Chicago Med, the latter being eyed for a mid-season launched the same way they did two years ago with Chicago PD. Suddenly, it doesn’t look good for The Night Shift, not yet renewed for a third season after wasting the post-The Voice timeslot on Mondays for weeks. Next year, it could be filled with new entry Blindspot, which have in my opinion the strenghth to become the new The Blacklist for the network. I’m very surprised by the choice of giving Heartbreaker a chance but it could be their next The Mysteries of Laura on Wesnesday night at 8: a light drama, very soapy, that manages to attract enough viewers to stay there for the whole season but which will have a hard time scoring a second season. Or it will be canceled after a few airings…
