NBC is still the only network to play the pilot season game with two new dramas orders, for a family dramedy and a marriage drama.
Since the end of Ugly Betty in 2010, its creator Silvio Horta developed projects for ABC and FOX but they never made it to pilot. The curse is ending as another one starts : NBC just ordered to pilot The Curse Of The Fuentes Women, a latina family dramedy with a supernatural twist. Looks like Jane The Virgin critical success inspired NBC. When a magical and mysterious young man inexplicably emerges from the ocean, he breathes new passion into the lives of the Fuentes women – the beautiful but lonely Lola, her ailing mother Esperanza and her troubled daughter Soledad. It is produced by Warner Bros. Television.
As Parenthood is coming to an end in a few weeks, the other pilot order is a marriage drama named Love is a Four Letter Word, in the vein of the Jason Katims show. It chronicles the collision of race, sexuality and gender roles when three diverse couples put modern marriage to the test. It is written by Diana Son, executive producer on Blue Bloods, who previously worked on SouthLAnd, Law & Order: Criminal Intent…
As of now, NBC has ordered 4 drama pilots & 4 comedy pilots. SEE ALL OF THEM IN THE DEVELOPMENT BOARD
