SCOOP: Belgian conspirationist thriller “Salamander” getting US treatment at ABC

Developed for quite some time, the US adaptation of belgian hit series Salamander has found a home at ABC. The network is considering the project for next season.

Jeff Pinkner & André Nemec (Zoo, Alias, Ninja Turtles, Fastlane) are writing and producing the pilot script for ABC Studios, in association with Keshet Media Group & their shingle Midnight Radio. The gripping and edge-of-the-seat thriller -a 12 part miniseries in Belgium- starts in a private bank where 66 safe-deposit boxes are robbed. The owners want to keep the thefts under wraps to avoid scandal, but an incorruptible, old-school police inspector throws himself into the investigation. When some of the key players are murdered, commit suicide or simply vanish, he just realizes how big this case is. He discovers that the victims are members of a secret organization called Salamander, made up of the country’s industrial, financial, judicial and political elite, and the safe deposite boxes contained their most intimate secrets – secrets that could bring down the nation…

It joins a slew of thriller projects at ABC; among them: Criminal from the Blindspot team, Head Games produced by Viola Davis and Doomsday from CSI veteran Carol Mendelsohn.
